By 2050, a majority of the world’s population will be concentrated in cities. This emerging trend to live, work, and play in 21st century cities is what Morris Strategy Group is calling the rise of a new “Urban Class.”
This is a class of men and women who are steady, innovative, and transformative, and are drawn to the world’s most dynamic cities. The “Urban Class” is risk-oriented and dedicated to bringing investment and entrepreneurship back into once struggling post-industrial cities across the United States. They view urban revitalization through an equity lens to ensure all communities can reap the value of economic prosperity.
So what drives this Urban Class and attracts them to the world’s dynamic cities? This is just one of the many topics we will explore during the Dear 2015 Group Blogging Event on October 6. Through our partnership with Meeting of Minds, we are inviting leaders from all sectors to share their big ideas for cities.
The prompt for the event is focused on the following topic:
The year is 2050. Write a letter to the people of the 2015 describing what your city is like, and give them advice on the next 35 years.
To participate, write your response to the prompt and publish it on your website at exactly 9am, local time, on October 6th. Don’t have a website? Publish your response on CityMinded.org. Visit their writing guidelines for more information.
Email the URL of your response to firstname.lastname@example.org or share it via Twitter using the hashtag #dear2015. For more information, visit the event page: http://cityminded.org/cal/dear-2015
We look forward to hearing your insights on how to make our cities great.
